29.12.17: What are we learning next week?

I hope that you’ve all had a great Christmas and are looking forward to coming back to school! School will re-open on Wednesday 3rd January for the Spring Term.

We’ll be straight back into learning and in English, we shall be writing a letter to someone special.

Maths will focus upon area and perimeter.

In our topic lessons, we will be looking at our music unit based on the song ‘Make you feel my love’.

Please ensure that your child has their PE kit in school as on Thursday, Y5 & Y6 will be taking part in a mini bench-ball tournament.

STEM: Wrap Like An Elf!

The children had great fun trying to wrap presents this morning just like the elves in Arthur Christmas.

After watching them on the DVD wrap gifts, the children were only given one sheet of paper to use and had to work out how many different items they could wrap with it.

Each item was worth a certain number of points, so they had to choose their items carefully.

It was clear who had wrapped presents before – I’m not sure we’re quite up to the standard of the elves just yet!

SMSC: Assembly Award Winners

Congratulations to our certificate winners for this week – super effort girls!

Evan today won the whole-school prize for attendance and punctuality. He’s not only been in school each day last week, but on time too. A great choice of book too – I’m sure you’ll enjoy reading it!

Bradley achieved his silver reading badge today – an impressive 100 home reads. Harvey also achieved his bronze award for 50 reads at home.

15.12.17: What are we learning next week?

Next week, we shall be continuing our STEM challenges as well as making Christmas cards.

On Monday morning, those children who have received a Privilege certificate this term will be having their treat. There will also be the children’s Christmas dinner on Monday too.

On Tuesday, there will be a whole-school worship service in church at 9 am as we end the Autumn Term. You are more than welcome to come along to celebrate Christmas with us.

Mr Bradley gave Year 5 a great challenge this afternoon using the Ozobots! The children had to program the Ozobots around the maze to find the Christmas tree, treasure chest or present.
