29.09.17: What are we learning next week?

In English, we will be looking at writing to discuss and trying to answer the question, ‘Is it right that we use the rainforest for its resources?’In this piece of work, the children will be able to include all of their knowledge and learning from our rainforest topic work. I’m looking forward to it!

Maths will focus on addition and subtraction. The children will be looking at both the mental and written methods for these operations.

Topic work will look at answering the learning question ‘Why is Brazil in the news again?’

A date for your diary for next week is Thursday 5th of October when we will be holding our Harvest celebration in Church. It starts at 9am and you are more than welcome to join us.

English: Multisensory Descriptive Writing

In English today, we all had a little lie down! It was all to help us imagine just what it might be like to be within the Amazon Rainforest!

As the starting point for our descriptive writing, we listened to the sounds of the rainforest and imagined what we could see, hear, touch and also what we might feel lying there in the humid, tropical rainforest.

We couldn’t wait to get writing from our ‘lying down’ perspective!

We hope to share some of our writing with you as soon as it’s finished, so watch this space…

PE: The Daily Mile

Hazel visited us in our assembly today to tell us all about ‘The Daily Mile’.

Our school will be completing 15 minutes of exercise where we will aim to do 2500 steps (which is roughy a mile).

By doing these extra steps, not only will our bodies will become stronger, fitter, faster and healthier, but it will also help our concentration and ability to learn.

We can’t wait to get started!

Low Bank Ground: More from Day 4

We couldn’t wait to canoe today!

Some of us went across Coniston Water on a boat before completing a self-led walk – we loved steering the boat and our time on the water.

The self-led walk was so much fun. All we had was a photographic map and we had to work as a team to complete the walk. We then got to go back in the boat to Low Bank Ground!
