2016-2017: End of Year 5!

I cannot believe I’m writing this as the summer holiday approaches!

It’s been such an amazing year filled with memories galore that I know I’ll treasure for a long time. I’m sure the children will too.

We’ve done so much this past year:

– School of Military

– Andy Warhol portraits

– Apple Dance Competition

– Spanish with Senorita Rubio

– Bible Exhibition

– STEM fun

– Haigh High Ropes

– Outdoor Autumnal art

– Walk Through the Bible with Joe

– CSI science

– Africa Week

Thank you to every child in Year 5 for all their hard work, perseverance, enthusiasm and humour – I’ve thoroughly loved teaching and getting to know each one of you!

Have a great summer!

STEM: Anti-grenade Eggs!

We had great fun trying to construct a device that would hold an egg this morning.

Once completed, our creations were thrown out of the classroom window – the challenge was for the egg to survive!

We had mixed success – 3/6 survived which isn’t too bad!

14.07.17: What are we learning next week?

I can’t believe our final week in Year 5 is almost here! Where has this year gone?

On Monday and Tuesday, we will be having our whole-school transition days. Year 5 will be spending both full days in the Year 6 classroom with their new teachers.

The rest of the week will have a STEM focus. I’ve lots of interesting challenges planned for the three days that I know the children will enjoy doing! If anyone has any spare cardboard boxes, please do bring them in.

Do also keep an eye on the blog next – there’s sure to be plenty photographs of our amazing STEM creations!

SMSC: Sporting Achievements

Great to see two girls in Year 5 share their achievements from home in our assembly today.

Jennifer plays for Golborne Lions and was awarded a trophy for having the best attitude in training. Chloe was given a medal from Impulse Dance for taking part in street dance.

Well done girls and thanks for sharing these achievements with us – wonderful!

RE: Ethos Award

Year 5 were delighted to be awarded this certificate today by the school Ethos Team. It was for being the class which had the best reflective prayer area in the school after the recent inspection.

We couldn’t help but celebrate!
