As part of our Science topic, year 5 have learned all about flowering plants.
The children have explored our nature garden to look for seeds, thought about the life cycle of a plant and been able to explain the function of the roots, stem, leaf and flower.
Year 5 have done some fantastic research on the uses of plants, before dissecting some beautiful flowers.

For anti-bullying week, year 5 worked with some visitors from a drama company.
They used drama techniques to think about solutions to various situations where people may not be making the right choices. They learned to be empowered and act on things that may happen to them.
A particularly enjoyable part of the lesson involved children acting out different types of bullying and finding a solution with their group.
As you can see, year 5 are very good at drama!
Year 5 have been looking at the importance of the actor’s role. They have enjoyed reading play scripts, along with performing tongue twisters to evaluate their confidence and pronunciation.
